Personal Biography

Jessica Messler was born and raised in the suburbs of North Atlanta. She received her Bachelor’s in Music Therapy from the University of Georgia in 2017, and continued at UGA to pursue her Masters in Professional Counseling. Jessica is a Masters level Associate Professional Counselor, graduating from the University of Georgia in 2019. Jessica is also a board-certified and licensed music therapist, which she uses in conjunction with more traditional psychotherapy techniques. Jessica has a passion for working with addictions and chronic and severe mental illness, and has spent her entire career working within the field. In addition to her work with The Summit Wellness Group, Jessica has worked along the entire substance use continuum of care, from inpatient and detox to residential and outpatient. Jessica works from a person-centered, feminist/multicultural perspective and draws from cognitive behavioral techniques. Jessica believes in creating a strong therapeutic rapport, fostering unconditional positive regard and an empathetic environment. Imperative to Jessica’s therapeutic approach, empowerment serves as foundation to processing complex topics such as emotional regulation, cognitive distortions, or relationship conflicts. Jessica is married to a music teacher, and has two dogs, Leia and Midna, and one cat, Kyuubi. Outside of work, you can find Jessica watching anime with her husband, writing short stories, or crafting.
