Drug Rehab Centers in Johns Creek, GA & Support Resources

Drug Rehab Centers in Johns Creek, GA & Local Support Resources

Johns Creek, a city near the Chattahoochee River located northeast of Atlanta, was officially incorporated in 2006. In the short period since then, Johns Creek has cemented itself as a center of arts, culture, and affluence.

The city prides itself on its nationally ranked high schools, above-average home values, and a high concentration of Fortune 500 businesses. Johns Creek is considered one of the most culturally diverse cities in the state, yet despite all of its positive qualities, the area is suffering from higher rates of drug abuse.

Drug rehab centers in Johns Creek, GA, are becoming increasingly necessary to fight against rising levels of substance abuse and overdose. Although the city has a safety ranking 80% higher than the Georgia average, those safety sentiments don’t resonate with residents who struggle with drug addiction.

Johns Creek: One of the Latest Victims of the Drug Use Epidemic

Johns Creek is located within what is known as the “Heroin Triangle” of Georgia, a collection of metropolitan suburbs north of Atlanta with disproportionately high rates of opioid use. Between 2010 and 2016, heroin-related deaths in this area increased by 3,844 percent.

Most jurisdictions agreed that the rise in heroin use is most prevalent in Alpharetta and Johns Creek. To combat this, the Johns Creek police department formed a joint task force with other cities in the Triangle that also face issues with substance abuse. In 2019, the task force successfully confiscated various illicit substances, including 63 grams of heroin, 739 grams of LSD, 125 grams of ecstasy, and 970 opioid pills.

The Johns Creek Police Department has also made other harm-reduction efforts to diminish drug misuse, such as placing a Drug Drop Box in City Hall, allowing residents to dispose of prescription medications safely. In 2023, this box has already led to the safe disposal of 203 pounds of drugs. Currently, only legal non-liquid prescription medications are allowed in the drop box.

Johns Creek is located in north Fulton County, which 2018 had the third-highest number of opioid cases investigated by the GBI. In 2015, Fulton County had approximately 11.7 opioid-related deaths per 100K residents, which is over double the national rate. To reduce overdose deaths, each Johns Creek police officer carries a medical blue bag that includes Naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal medication.

Greater access to effective addiction treatment centers can hopefully prevent these tragic deaths as more people seek rehab programs for substance use disorder (SUD). The Summit Wellness Group has two recovery center locations, Roswell and midtown Atlanta, to provide treatment options for people ready to achieve sobriety.

The high drug abuse rates in Johns Creek mean that this may not be the best location to explore drug or alcohol treatment centers. If you are from this area, you will still be surrounded by all your triggers and negative influences contributing to your substance abuse.

Signs of Drug or Drug Abuse

Recognizing the signs of drug addiction will help you determine if your loved one should go to drug or alcohol rehab. Many symptoms of drug dependency can vary for different substances, but these common signs can help you recognize the general signs of drug addiction.

  • Inability to quit drug abuse. Those with drug dependency experience difficulties stopping their drug use, even if they strongly desire to leave. They may have tried many times but end up relapsing. They may also attempt to hide their addiction from loved ones, deny their problem, or lash out when someone suggests they need help.
  • Increased tolerance. After prolonged substance use, individuals begin to develop a tolerance to the substance and need to take more to experience the same effects they used to. This causes them to increase their drug doses and spend more time getting and using it.
  • Obsession and focus. For those struggling with addiction, drug use becomes their main priority. They spend most of their waking hours craving and seeking the substance. It becomes a cycle of obsession that disrupts daily life.
  • Loss of control. Addiction causes individuals to prioritize drug use above everything else. They become helpless to resist the temptations of substance abuse, which begins to influence their thoughts and actions. This leads to feelings of guilt, depression, and other mental health disorders.
  • Impact on life. Addiction affects the individual’s physical and mental health, relationships, work, school, and general obligations. They become unreliable and struggle to maintain responsibilities due to substance use, as they choose to prioritize drug use instead.
  • Withdrawal symptoms. People who try to quit or reduce use experience emotional and physical withdrawal signs. Symptoms can include trembling, sweating, vomiting, anxiety, or irritability. Detox centers allow those with drug and alcohol addiction to safely wait out these withdrawal symptoms as the substances leave their system.
  • Signs of overdose: If your loved one is experiencing possible overdose symptoms, drug addiction is highly likely. Although you may be unsure what drugs they have taken or if they are using drugs, this situation requires immediate medical attention as their life could be in danger. Knowing the signs of overdose from different substances can help save a life.

How The Summit Wellness Group Recovery Programs Stand Out

The treatment facility you choose for your rehab program can be the difference between relapse and long-term recovery. Picking customized treatment options to your needs will help you overcome addiction. At The Summit Wellness Group, our first step is conducting an intake assessment for each new patient, which allows our team to create a personalized treatment plan best suited to help them break free from the cycle of substance abuse.

  • Accreditation and highly qualified staff: We are accredited by the Joint Commission. We are recognized for our expertise in providing quality care and focus on patient safety during addiction treatment. Many of our staff members are in long-term recovery, so they can relate to our patients’ struggles and provide unique insight and medical advice during their journey to sobriety.
  • Dual diagnosis: Individuals with substance use disorders are often also suffering from a mental illness that may contribute to their decision to abuse drugs or alcohol in an attempt to cope or self-medicate. By treating these co-occurring disorders and addressing mental health issues that may be the root cause of a patient’s substance abuse, we aim to ensure long-term recovery.
  • Luxury amenities: Our rehab centers in Roswell and Midtown Atlanta are newly renovated with upscale furniture and an environment that highlights patient comfort. We aim to make our patients feel at ease with access to gourmet meals, a fitness facility, and comfortable beds.
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT): Our healthcare providers can safely administer medications such as Vivitrol, Disulfiram, Naltrexone, and Methadone to patients going through withdrawal to alleviate symptoms and reduce cravings. This gives our patients a clear head before beginning their treatment program so they are free from distractions.

Treatment Programs We Offer

  • Medical detox: Detoxification from any substance can have dangerous and life-threatening side effects. For severe drug or alcohol addiction, inpatient treatment during our residential detox program offers patients 24/7 medical supervision from our trained staff to ensure their safety. Our detox center also reduces the risk of relapse during drug or alcohol rehab.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): PHP is our most intensive outpatient treatment program. This program typically lasts for about 2-4 weeks. Patients will visit our treatment facility from Monday through Friday, participating in 30 hours of treatment services a week before returning home in the evening. PHP consists of individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, 12-step programs, and holistic treatment.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): IOP is a day treatment program that usually lasts 3-6 months and uses the same treatment options as PHP, just on a lesser scale. IOP is a step-down for patients who have completed more intensive programs but aren’t ready for outpatient treatment.
  • Sober living: This housing program helps patients transition to daily life after completing their treatment plan. When you have completed treatment at The Summit Wellness Group, our team works with patients to determine which aftercare program will benefit them most. Sober living is a structured environment that holds residents accountable with drug tests, curfews, and regular meetings and support groups.

Our Treatment Services

  • Evidence-based treatment: Our customized treatment plans provide each patient with a combination of scientifically-backed treatment methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational enhancement therapy, group therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
  • Holistic therapy: Our holistic approach goes beyond addiction treatment and allows us to dive deeper by focusing on each patient’s mind, body, and psyche. This treatment uses yoga, massage therapy, guided meditation, nutrition, chiropractic care, fitness programs, art therapy, and adventure activities to help patients unburden themselves, discover hobbies that improve their mental health, and find more from life than substance abuse.
  • Relapse prevention: This program combines CBT, mind-body relaxation, community outreach, and 12-step groups to teach patients healthy habits and coping mechanisms to manage cravings and stay in recovery. After completing our treatment programs, these programs help patients learn tools to support sobriety.

Our Proximity To Johns Creek

Johns Creek is just a short drive from the two treatment centers at The Summit Wellness Group. Our Roswell location is about 25 minutes away, while our midtown Atlanta facility is about 40 minutes away. Even though these centers are still close by, that extra distance allows you to free yourself from distractions by removing you from potential triggers and negative influences in your area.

Because Johns Creek is part of The Triangle, staying local may not be the best option for your recovery. In addition, our out-of-town locations remove the stigma of seeking treatment since you are no longer in an area where you may be recognized or judged. At our rehab centers, you’ll be surrounded by peers who understand your struggles and can offer support. This encouraging environment will teach you coping skills and strategies to manage cravings and avoid relapse.

Drug Abuse Doesn’t Have to Define You
