Drug Rehab Centers In Marietta, GA

Marietta is a north Atlanta suburb about half an hour from downtown Atlanta with a population of 60,000. The city offers excellent schools, affordable housing, and beautiful mountain scenery. Yet, despite these wonderful attributes, Marietta is still plagued by substance abuse.

Marietta, located in Cobb County, has faced rising levels of drug abuse over recent years. The Cobb County Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse stated that the county has the second-highest number of opioid overdose deaths in Georgia. This has created the need for drug rehabs in Marietta, GA.

Once you seek addiction treatment programs, the priority shifts to determining the right rehab center to help your recovery. Many drug rehab centers are available, but finding the best fit for you can be daunting.

An option you should consider is choosing a treatment facility outside of Marietta. Even going to a treatment program just a few towns over may be more beneficial, as this provides a fresh environment where you are free from the distractions of your daily life.

Drug Abuse Prevalence in Marietta

Marietta is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) reported that an annual average of 622,000 people in this area have used illicit drugs within the past year.

The survey also stated that 350,000 people in this area are struggling with some form of substance use disorder. In 2018, Cobb County reported 112 drug overdose deaths, of which 73% were opioid-related.

The Drug Surveillance Unit of Georgia reported that Cobb County had a moderate to high vulnerability regarding the increase in opioid overdoses. Additionally, Cobb County had a higher rate of emergency department visits due to opioid overdose than Georgia.

With access to effective addiction treatment centers, these tragic deaths can hopefully be prevented as more people seek rehab programs for substance use disorder (SUD). The Summit Wellness Group has two recovery center locations, Roswell and midtown Atlanta, to provide treatment options.

Because the Marietta area has higher drug abuse rates than the state average, this may not be the best location for you to search for addiction treatment centers. If you are from this area, you will still be surrounded by all your triggers and negative influences that led to substance abuse.

Signs and Symptoms of Drug Addiction in a Loved One

Recognizing signs of drug addiction is an integral part of determining if your loved one needs addiction treatment. There are many symptoms of drug addiction, especially for different substances, but these common signs can help you recognize the general movements.

  • Inability to stop, despite wanting to. People suffering from addiction find it difficult to stop using a substance, no matter how much they want to. They may have tried many times but can’t break free. They may also lie, hide their addiction from loved ones, or lash out when someone suggests they need help.
  • Need for more. Over time, individuals develop a tolerance and need more substance to experience the same effects they used to. They will start taking higher doses and spend more time obtaining and using the substance.
  • Obsession and focus. Drug use becomes a priority in the minds of those struggling with addiction. They crave, think about, and seek out the substance for most of their waking hours. It becomes an endless preoccupation that disrupts daily life.
  • Loss of control. Addiction causes individuals to prioritize drug use above everything else. They become helpless to resist the temptations of substance abuse. This leads to feelings of guilt, depression, and other mental health disorders.
  • Impact on life. Addiction affects all areas of life. This spans physical health, mental well-being, relationships, work, or school. Individuals struggle to meet responsibilities and obligations due to substance use. Recovery programs help patients regain control of their lives.
  • Withdrawal symptoms. People who try to quit or reduce use experience emotional and physical withdrawal signs. Symptoms can include trembling, sweating, vomiting, anxiety, or irritability. A detox program at an addiction treatment center is necessary for a safe and secure withdrawal process.
  • Signs of overdose. Drug addiction is highly likely if your loved one is experiencing possible overdose symptoms. Although you may be unsure what drugs they have taken or if they are using drugs, this situation requires immediate medical attention as their life could be in danger.

Treatment Programs We Offer

Medical detox: Detoxification can be dangerous and even life-threatening without medical supervision. For severe alcohol or drug addiction, inpatient treatment during a residential detox program offers patients 24/7 care from our trained medical staff. This program also reduces the risk of relapse during drug or alcohol rehab.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)PHP is our most intensive outpatient treatment program. Typically, patients will attend this program for about 2-4 weeks, from Monday through Friday, logging 30 hours a week at our treatment facility. PHP consists of individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, 12-step programs, and holistic treatment. Patients then return home in the evenings.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)IOP is a day treatment program that serves as a stepping stone for patients who have completed more intensive programs but are not ready for outpatient treatment or patients with mild substance abuse issues who don’t require the rigid structure of residential treatment or PHP. This is the most flexible treatment plan, as patients can maintain employment or their daily routine while spending 3 to 6 months in this program. IOP blends individual counseling, group counseling, family therapy, 12-step programs, and holistic treatment.

Sober living: This program helps patients transition to daily life after substance abuse treatment. Sober living is a structured environment that holds residents accountable with drug tests, curfews, and regular meetings and support groups. The Summit Wellness Group works with patients who have completed our treatment programs to situate them in suitable aftercare programs such as sober living. Sober living is often used with outpatient services like PHP and IOP and makes for an easier transition back to daily life and obligations.

This treatment uses yoga, massage therapy, guided meditation, nutrition, chiropractic care, fitness programs, art therapy, and adventure activities to improve our patient’s mental health and allow them to rediscover hobbies outside of substance abuse.
  • Relapse prevention: This program combines CBT, mind-body relaxation, community outreach, and 12-step groups to teach patients healthy habits and coping mechanisms to manage cravings and stay in recovery. After completing our treatment programs, these programs help patients learn tools to support sobriety.
